Disney says it's net income for the 3rd quarter has risen to $1.48 billion, that's 77 cents per share. This is up from $1.33 billion or 67 cents a share, a year ago.
Disney's theme park operations revenue increased 12 percent in the quarter to $3.2 billion. Disney said the boost was because of increased spending and higher attendance at domestic theme parks. Attendance was just slightly up, but guests are spending more money on rooms, theme park attendance, food and merchandise. It has been Disney's strategy over the past year to scale down discounts.
